У книзі вперше простежуються основні віхи життя, науково-педагогічної та
організаторської діяльності всіх ректорів Національного гірничого університету
протягом його 115-річної історії, переважно – видатних учених зі світовим ім’ям.
Доля кожного з них залежала від багатьох обставин, як і різним був внесок у розвиток
університету. У нарисах відображено славні, в окремі періоди важкі й трагічні
сторінки історії вищого навчального закладу, а разом з тим, розвиток науки, освіти,
промисловості Придніпров’я та всієї країни.
Нариси написано на основі опублікованих та архівних джерел і літератури з
історії університету.
Книгу розраховано на широке коло читачів, але передусім викладачів,
студентів і тих, хто цікавиться історією розвитку вітчизняної освіти й науки, а також
минулим рідного краю.

This book is the first to study the milestones of the life, scientific-pedagogical, and
organizational activity of all the rectors of the National Mining University for its 115-year
history. Each figure was different, but most of them were prominent scientists; some of
them were even achnowledged internationally. Their paths depended on numerous
circumstances and each of them made different contributions to the university. The life and
work of the rectors reflect glorious, but sometimes rather hard and tragic, periods of the
university history along with the development of science, education, and production of both
Prydniprivia and the whole country.
These essays are based on the published and archived sources and literature on the
university history.
This book is intended for teachers, students, and all those who are interested in the
history of this region.
